Our Beliefs

We stand firmly in the center of historic Christian teaching. We have deep convictions concerning the clear teaching of the Bible, and at the same time, we allow room for differing opinions about the things that can be legitimately debated by thoughtful Christians.  We follow the thinking of Saint Augustine when he said:

“In essentials unity, in non-essentials diversity, in all things love.”

In other words, we do have boundaries, but our boundaries are broad and inclusive.  We want to be constantly moving toward Jesus, without regard for how far or near we might be starting from.  We want to be a community like Paul talked about in Acts 15:19 that doesn’t make it difficult for the people who are turning to God to find him.

What We Believe

We believe that God is the creator, sustainer and Father of everything that exists.  We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s son and co-equal with the Father.  We believe that the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and Son, and that he is present and working in the world and in the life of every person who trusts in and follows after Jesus Christ.  We believe that every person is damaged by sin and in need of the forgiveness that comes through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.  We believe that we are made right with God only by what Jesus has done, not by what we can do for ourselves and that when we receive the free gift of salvation, we will spend eternity in the joyful presence of God.

Our Vision

To Gather searching hearts into the saving embrace of God’s love in Jesus Christ.

To Grow as people in the truth and transforming power of the gospel.

To Give ourselves with genuineness and passion to God, our families, our community, our church and our world.

Our Values

We value Genuineness – Above all, we seek to be genuine in our faith, our relationships, and in our response to God. We have a low tolerance for religion with all of it’s pretending and empty ritual. We want genuine relationship with God and with each other.

We value Being Outward – Our church doesn’t exist for ourselves, but for others. We want to turn ourselves outward toward others and offer a compelling witness of Christ’s love to the world around us and to every single person that comes through our doors.

We value Relationship – We see relationship as the primary vehicle for all of God’s blessings and purposes in our lives. We want to know one another and live life together in authentic community. We want to relate with one another with kindness, friendliness, care-filled concern, and love. If you are a part of our church family, we care about you and we want to know you.

Our Values (cont.)

We value Process – We recognize that we’re all in process toward becoming all that God created us to be, and that none of us have arrived. So rather than passing judgment, we extend grace toward one another and allow each other the freedom to be in process. This means that we seek a friendly, open, casual, non-defensive, non-manipulative environment for growth in our weekend services.

We value Compassion – We want to have a heart of compassion and a hand of help to people that are struggling, whether with poverty, addiction, brokenness, mental illness, or any other struggle. We are a church that welcomes, accepts and helps people who are struggling.

We value Worship– Worship is the central act that acknowledges the truth of God’s goodness and grace to us. Worship expresses the loving embrace that is at the core of God’s re-engagement of our lives. We love to worship God through song and by the way we live our lives.
